about the photographic vision / 4
I like to do things that I adore. It can’t be in between. I really need to connect… Because it’s not a job. It’s almost like a faith or religion. Every time, I give a bit of my soul.
I like to believe, in the midst of hate, you found within you, an invincible love… In the midst of chaos, you found within you, an invincible calm.I realised, through it all, that… in the midst of winter, you found within you, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against you, within you, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back. That’s how I look at the people, that’s what I see inside them.
Portraits reveal a desire for human connection; a desire so strong that people who don’t know me, open themselves to the camera, all in the hope that at the other end someone will be watching, someone who will laugh or suffer with them. I love everything about people: the way they walk, the way they talk, the way they cry, the way their mouth is distorted whenever they do this or say that. It’s always been a passion for me to observe.
We all need someone to look at us and there are people who live in the imaginary eyes of those who are not present. They are the dreamers.
