RESIDUES

MAGAZINE

RESIDUES is an ongoing  magazine project that captures the essence of Cuba’s intricate narrative, delving into the struggle between its historical echoes and present realities. Amidst the dichotomy of socialism and capitalism, decay and glamour, seditious colors and melancholic interiors, the magazine embarks on an exploration of resilience, offering glimpses of the island’s uncertain yet fascinating future.

„Through the twists and turns of life’s labyrinth, a child’s innocence becomes resilient hope.“

„A Child’s Labyrinth“ delves into the enigmatic world of Mia, a 7-year-old girl living in a small apartment in Havana Cerro alongside her single mother and grandmother. In the face of poverty and financial struggles, their daily life becomes a labyrinth, a constant search for a way through the unknown.

An ongoing project aiming to explore and celebrate the concept of femininity through a series of creative studio portraits featuring transformative journeys of feminine self-reflection.

Joerg Alexander is a German photographer whose works are full of symbolism, lyricism and visual sensuality. The Berlin-based photo artist creates complex images that constantly present the viewer with new puzzles. His photographs often combine different visual worlds and contain enigmatic and sometimes disturbing details.

This complexity makes his works particularly fascinating. Alexander’s photographs captivate with their intellectual depth, a special light and a sterile modern setting reminiscent of commercial photography or pop culture. There are also intuitive, erotic allusions that offer an additional level of interpretation. The appeal of his works lies in this exciting mixture of aesthetic appeal and intellectual challenge.

It is in this mixture that the real power of his images unfolds – they penetrate deep into our psyche, describing fears, urges, fetishes, fantasies and longings, and create a unique atmosphere that lies somewhere between the familiar and the archetypal.
