We are innocent when we sleep
Campaign for the Theater Schaubühne in Berlin, Conception by Christian Jankowski.
The campaign for the 2018/19 season follows an idea by conceptual artist Christian Jankowski. Under the title „We are innocent when we sleep“, Jankowski had actresses and actors from the ensemble staging each other in their sleep, based on pictures of „sleeping pranks“ (pranks with fallen asleep) as they circulate on the Internet.
As is usual with such pranks, sleepers do not know for sure in which way, by whom and by how many they were altered. The result are images, photographed by Joerg Reichardt, that show the ensemble in an unusual and sometimes irritating way, always changing between opposites such as excess/calculus, trust/being at the mercy, inside/outside, schadenfreude/pity and human/object.

Portraits from Havana
If one matters, everyone matters
Men from the streets Havanas.
„If you can see a thing whole…it seems that it’s always beautiful. Planets, lives… But up close, a world’s all dirt and rocks. And day to day, life’s a hard job, you get tired, you lose the pattern. You need distance… The way to see how beautiful the earth is, is to see it as the moon. The way to see how beautiful life is, is from the vantage point of death.“

(Quote from ‚HAVANA HOURS‚ Imitation of Innocence by José Ramón Fajador)
Streets lined with mansions that have fallen prey to the poison ivy of time. Silently, they oppress their long-spanning incertitude, being a witness of the years and the history. All these years, all these stories. We can see people walking down the streets, lost in thought, with faces of everyday’s haze of indifference, while others are immersed in the surrounding setting, barely standing out.
